Geltner's book is really a tour de force, especially in terms of the curative power of the therapeutic relationship--though not in the way you might think. His model essentially conceptualizes the therapeutic relationship in a much more precise and sophisticated way than I've heard described before, and really goes a step beyond both object relations and intersubjectivity in that regard. Unlike so many psychoanalytic authors, Geltner writes in a way that is both experience-near and user-friendly. It's easy and fun to read.
